Metro station Dinamo in Moscow, Russia opened in 1938, and is dedicated to the theme of sport, reflecting the nearby Dynamo Stadium. The station features red marble and onyx-clad pylons decorated with porcelain medallions and bas-reliefs depicting athletes and sporting events. At night, after the last passengers had left the station, physicists Georgy Flyorov and Konstantin Petrzhak conducted pioneering underground experiments here in 1940, leading to the discovery of the spontaneous fission of uranium.
