Metro station Ploshchad Revolyutsii in Moscow, Russia opened in 1938, and is one of the city’s most famous and centrally located metro stations, just a short walk from Red Square. Designed by architect Alexey Dushkin, the station is renowned for its 76 life-size bronze sculptures by Matvey Manizer, depicting soldiers, workers, students, and other figures of Soviet life. One of the best-known statues shows a border guard with his dog, whose polished bronze nose has become a symbol of good luck after being rubbed by generations of travelers and students. Red and yellow marble arches, supported by low pylons faced with black Armenian marble, complete one of the Moscow Metro’s most iconic interiors.
