Metro station Aviamotornaya in Moscow, Russia opened in 1979, and is dedicated to the theme of aviation and flight. Its most distinctive feature is the remarkable ceiling of the central hall, composed of anodized gold pyramids and tetrahedra that create a striking three-dimensional effect. At the end of the station, a large metal sculpture depicting Icarus reinforces the aviation theme, making Aviamotornaya one of the Moscow Metro’s most unique stations of the late Soviet period.
