Metro station Krasnye Vorota (Red Gate) in Moscow, Russia opened in 1935, as one of the original ten stations of the Moscow Metro. The station takes its name from Red Gate Square, where the famous Red Gate triumphal arch once stood. In recognition of its outstanding architectural design, Krasnye Vorota was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1937 Paris World’s Exhibition. It also became the first station in the Moscow Metro to install an automatic turnstile in 1952, marking an important milestone in the history of the system.
