LUBYANKA, 2019
In the stillness of an early summer Sunday, shortly after five in the morning, at a time when the sun has already risen and the city center of Moscow remains nearly empty. With no traffic and movement, Lubyanka appears unusually open and still. The square is dominated by the monumental Lubyanka building constructed between 1897 and 1898. It was originally built for the Rossiya Insurance company but later became widely known as the headquarters of the KGB and its successor institutions. Since 2016, the building has housed the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
